visit by 15 schoolgirls from shinagawa high school in tokyo

We received the following request:

I am Koji Yamaoka, a teacher at Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin High School, a girls’ junior and senior high school located in Tokyo. I am writing to inquire about the possibility of arranging a meeting between Ms. Gulda and approximately 10 to 20 female high school students from our school next summer.

I am responsible for overseeing our school’s global education initiatives, and we are currently planning an educational trip to Europe scheduled for August of this year. The trip will commence on August 20th departing from Tokyo, with stays in Krakow, Poland from August 21st to August 23rd, and in Vienna, Austria from the evening of August 23rd until the evening of August 26th.

In Vienna, we aim to expose our students to various forms of art, such as music and fine arts, and help them understand how art contributes to peace and respect for diversity.

Considering the current global and domestic situations, we believe it is crucial for high school students who will shape the future society to deeply contemplate themes such as “discrimination,” “intolerance,” and “diversity.”

We hope they can learn from experiences in other countries, and thus, we have planned this trip (with the intention to make it an annual event). The participating students will be approximately 10 to 20 female students from the first and second years of high school.

After reviewing Ms. Gulda’s activities on the website, we believe her work aligns perfectly with the theme of our educational trip.

Ich danke Ihnen, dass Sie unsere Anfrage berücksichtigt haben, und freue mich auf Ihre Antwort.

Thank you for considering our request, and I look forward to your response. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Best regards,
Koji Yamaoka
